[Wolves] ubuntu and linux upgrades

Hello,
I have fully upgraded the system, i know you should.
I was talking about a full dist-upgrade. In Synaptic
it gives you option of 'smart' or 'default' upgrade
and i have default upgrade. I just want to know if
its better for clean install?
