The wording for NFS is ropey because of it's history.  Like most things 
once you cut through the crap it gets easier and when you have both 
techy and marketing bull in the same specification you are going to end 
up with scary docs even so many years later.

NFS is one of those things that can be a pain to setup but sometimes 
it's as easy as editing the export file and started the server and it 
just works.

Don't ever expect it to work well ;-) and you'll be happy.
