The camera may be detected, but you can't drag and drop mini dv video
off it. The video needs to be encoded from the tape to the computer.

You can do this in Kino for GNOME, and I think there are some other
encoding tools too. Luckily, with the work on PiTiVi and Diva going
on, video editing in Linux is going to be pretty damn exciting. :)
