Hi Helen,

I would recommend a router as these often have a built-in firewall.
Personally, I would recommend a Linksys model such as the WAG354G or the
older WAG54G (both with wireless, see http://www.linksys.co.uk>).

As to a provider take a look at either Freedom2Surf <http://www.f2s.com>
or V21 <http://www.v21.co.uk>.
