bz2 has the greatest compression, but also takes the longest (more cpu
required) to extract/compress.
I think there is one better than bz2, but I can't remember it's name.
(tar [TApe aRchiver] is just a way of joining multiple files into one
single one, which is useful when you're backing up onto tape. It doesn't
do any compression on it's own but can obviously be combined with e.g.
gz,bz2 etc)
