[Wolves] rotate 2d array by 45degrees

Is this anything to do with a programming competition? A departing 
colleage spent her (I know Ade! What is the world coming to?) last hour 
at work  trying, for no obvious reason, to work out how to recognise 
diagonal lines in a game of on-line Connect 4. I suggested rotating the 
grid by 45 degrees and using the horizontal/vertical algorithm. It just 
seems too much of a coincidence.
