I have hit myself over the head with a blunt instrimunt  as I was being a

This gave me php-pear and php-tidy I still cant find php5-pgsql however I have 
installed php4-pgsql so I'm hoping that will work?

I'd seen the pgadmin and will look at that if my 5th attempt fails.
