You should have mentioned the Nvidia card. Mine was working under the
previous version with the Nvidia (free beer, closed source) drivers but
the upgrade killed it. I was back to the CLI. I just had to do an
apt-get install of the nvidia stuff again.
I appreciate that the Debian heritage may make the Ubuntu team a bit
sniffy about closed source drivers but I agree that this is a potential
PR disaster.
