[Wolves] where do i start??

Some of you may faintly remember me (long hair) i came to the lug for a few 
months above a year ago. Unfortunatly i got waylayed and am just starting 
again. Unfortunatly i have only a old 400mhz machine to work on right now. i 
have ubuntu(dapper) but when i select install before the next menu appears 
the screen goes fuzzy, just before this it mentions something about Pci but 
to quick to see exactly what. The graphics is on board, a S3 trio 3D 
chipset. Any ideas where i could start??
