Have you followed all of the other steps?

Specifically have you changed the symbolic link as per the line that
starts "ln -sf"?

Do the keypresses listed on the page do anything that indicates the
XGL xserver is running?

Specifically if you press "Windows key" and right click the mouse,
does it zoom in?
