Hi there,
Many of those who post on the lists that I've essentially just spammed
will have heard about this Pledge already.
For those that don't know, this pledge was started by David Nielsen to
get some money so that the Project Nouveau people had it a little
easier. They are trying to develop decent open source nVidia drivers,
so that we don't have to put up with binary blobs and the GPL
arguments that they cause.
I'm hoping to "mop up" the last few people who forgot to sign it,
didn't sign it because they didn't get it, or just thought it wouldn't
get anywhere
Please head on over to http://www.pledgebank.com/nouveaudriver/ and
sign the pledge and get your $10 (£$7) ready. I've signed it basically
because I'm an idiot and can't code, but have a little bit of money
that I think will be worthwhile donating to Project Nouveau.
The pledge founder David Nielsen has a blog post,
http://lovesunix.net/blog/?p=153, about what he has done and a small
explanation of why.
Currently only 60 or so more people are needed to finish this off and
get some good publicity for the open source community about what we
can do when we work together.
Ciarán
