I've not tried it but I believe that it is built on Ubuntu 7.10.
Doesn't it come ready bundled with proprietary codecs etc?  Which
Ubuntu 7.10 makes easily available anyway if you want them..  Is it
quicker? That may make it somewhat desirable.
