[Wolves] Ubuntu 7.04 and Epson 3490 scanner

Hi all,

I am a Linux newbie. I am using Ubuntu 7.04 and I have managed to get my
Epson 3490 scanner working but the device is very slow in Linux. The
device works fine in Fedora but I would like to use Ubuntu.

I have taken the drivers from the Epson site which did not work as I had
to compile the drivers. I then used alien to convert the debs to rpm's.

Has someone managed to get the scanner working properly under Ubuntu 7.04?
