I have been looking for a while - this kind of problem needs to be
cleared up before Linux is a serious contender for the small business.
Sage Line 50 is widely used. Probably running in a virtual machine is
the most bug-free option - particularly since the information kept in
sage tends to be mission critical (take regular backups!). However, I
can't help thinking that running a vitual machine still means paying for
a Windows licence and may be complicated to set up for the average small
business. Sage Line 50 isn't extensively tested on Wine - which
surprises me (I think v.11 will load but isn't tested).

Incidentally, I have been meaning to mention on this list that I
completed a Computerised Bookkeeping Course earlier this year (results
pending) - IAB Diploma - using SAGE Line 50. I am happy to help anyone
on the list who uses SAGE. Might even offer to do bookkeeping
(including setting up your initial accounts) for a few hours a week for
free in the short term - as long as:

A. You live nearby
B. It will be at evenings/weekends.
C. You are willing to provide me with a job reference to aid me getting
a full time job in bookkeeping/accountancy.

Rob

OH and as of next month I shall be trying to attend meets again...

Regards,

Simon B.
