1.Get a new external 2.5 HDD caddy ideally from one of these drug addict
revenue generation centres I.e. a junk shop, should be able to pick one
up for £2 or £3.
2. Get a 2.5 to 3.5 ribbon http://preview.tinyurl.com/2a2p6w3 or have a
look at these http://preview.tinyurl.com/2boqz7o spend a little bit of
money on a multi function lead one that can do both IDE and SATA you'll
be grateful in the long run, we use them every day in work.
3. You say the thing is making a row? Sounds to me like the HDD is on
its last legs, GET THE DATA OFF NOW!
I take it the unit draws power from the USB cable seeing as you say it
works on his, I'm wondering why you want a power cable if it works via
USB? Using an external power source will not make the 'noise' go away.
That's a bit like saying "The wheel on my car makes a right row but goes
away if I turn the volume on my car stereo up".
Trust me I do this for a living :-)
