I use KeepassX synced via dropbox, the passwords in KeepassX are encrypted then keepassX itself is encrypted so your passwords are pretty safe tbh. As for holding the Database on DropBox that too is encrypted, I think your data is safe with this method.

On Windows you can use Keepass (Note there is no X) keepassX is in the process of being rewritten from scratch when completed both versions will be compatible with each other (Currently they are not).
