Historically both Japanese and Chinese martial artists did something called carp watching for relaxation and learning.  They believed that you could watch carp swim in a pool and they would get close to each other but never touch and the motions they used are ones a martial artist should learn, sweeping around the opponent letting them expend energy needlessly while you are a carp effortlessly drawing them in.

This is bullshit.  Fish bump into each other all the while :)  They just manage to do it gracefully.
