It's an add-on module for fibrechannel or gigabit networking - the 
old-style type. "SFP'S" are the new version, I believe.

These slot into fibrechannel switches or network switches and sometimes 
into the back of servers, special NIC's or fibrechannel host adapters. 
They're not SUN specific - they were made by lots different 
manufacturers - HP, IBM, you know the likely culprits.
