Hope you don't mind me posting here... We've had a role just become available for a Linux Administrator in Evesham. Details as follows:

* Evesham, Worcestershire

* Salary range - £30,000 - £40,000



We are a highly successful organisation within the building and plumbing merchants industry. We trade from over 400 locations nationwide, employ approximately 5,000 staff and have a turnover in excess of £1bn. Our businesses or 'brands' are leading merchants and specialists in their own fields.

One of these divisions is currently looking to recruit a Linux Administrator.

As a Linux Administrator, you will be required to develop new infrastructures, upgrade existing systems and carry out third line support across Linux and other platforms. You will also be required to liaise with team members and other staff as one of the main technical resources for Linux based systems.

Proven commercial experience of working with Unix or Linux based systems is essential, any additional experience in a programming environment would be desirable.

With previous experience in a second or third line support capacity, you will possess excellent communications skills and a methodical and thorough working approach; utilising your keen eye for continual process improvement and ability to research and pick up new technologies easily.

Knowledge and experience of Shell scripting, PHP, MySQL, Apache and an understanding of networks and firewalls is essential.

Candidates with an exposure to Cisco (possibly including CCNA) and experience of Debian, RedHat, Subversion, Asterisk, VoIP, Exim, Windows or IIS/MS SQL servers along with an understanding of website infrastructures and patch management would also be desirable. Other technologies in use include MariaDB, pacemaker, KVM, FusionIO, iSCSI, ipvs, IPv6, solr, sphinx and DRBD.
