After this weekend chatting to the guys behind lug.org.uk I'm 
inclined to agreed with you.
A number of other people have voiced similar concerns about stability,
latency, etc.

They're aware of the problems, and are working to fix them, so there's
probably no need to leap out of the frying pan.
