[Wylug-admin] Announcement for next meeting

Hi

I have the announcement for the next meeting ready to send. What I don't have 
is any access to the Wordpress installation to do an announcement page.

Could someone with access please put the following information on there at

and give me a shout - I'll then fire off the message to the mailing list.

Our next meeting will be on Monday 08 September 2008 in Leeds University's
Stoner Building.

The meeting room is sign-posted from the main EC Stoner Building entrance 
(level 7, the side facing the Parkinson Tower).

The meeting officially starts at 7.00 pm, but the room will be open for
coffee, tea, biscuits and chat from 6.30pm. 

Talk: Xara LX

Phil Driscoll and Ben Fowler are going to give a talk on ‘Xara LX’:

Xara LX is an exceptionally capable, fast and easy to use vector graphics 
editor. It started life as 'Artworks' on Acorn's Risc OS in the early 1990s. 
It was then ported to Windows and greatly enhanced finding favour amongst 
commercial graphic artists and web designers.

In 2005 Xara (the company) began a port to Linux and the software is now 
useable, but perhaps only 85% complete on that platform. Licensing issues 
with the core graphics rendering engine have somewhat hindered contributions 
from external developers and the project is currently in the doldrums.

Phil Driscoll has been a regular user of Xara in all its guises since its 
Acorn origins. Ben Fowler has contributed to the Xara LX port, especially 
with regard to the PPC platform.
