MANLug meetings for June and July 2001

The Manchester Linux User Group (ManLUG) meets on the third
Saturday of every month in the Lascelles Williams room on the
ground floor of the Kilburn Building, Manchester Computing, in
the University of Manchester on Oxford Road, between Booth Street
and Brunswick Street. We are building 38 in the map at
http://www.man.ac.uk/welcome/campus1.html. (For more information,
see http://www.manlug.man.ac.uk, under 'How to find us'.)

16 June 2001, 14:00, usual place.

     Ewan Leith
     USB and ADSL drivers

Since USB and ADSL drivers are now available for Linux, and since
BT offer home ADSL connections, this talk explains how to set
it up and how it performs.

Mike Richardson will be giving a followup talk (or, perhaps, a
related talk) later in the summer.

Ruediger Berlich of S.u.S.E Linux Ltd
     S.u.S.E Linux 7.2

This is an introduction to the new features and improvements in
the latest S.u.S.E release.

21 July 2001, 14:00, usual place.

No committed volunteers yet!

Other events:

Do remember that there is a very interesting Linux Developers'
Conference here in Manchester from June 29 to July 1. You are
now too late to get in for UKP 30 (we've passed the end of
early registration), but a three day conference for UKP 50 is
not to be sneezed at! There are talks on clusters, IBM, the
port to x86-64, the history of computing (with a demo of the
Baby at the Science Museum), laptops, Samba, DCE, KDE, Gnome,
heartbeat, the journalling flash file system, Python, GIMP,
tuning the kernel for better performance, Zope, and the
FlightGear Flight Simulator, among others.
