Greetings all,
Thanks go to smylers and Aaron, for last septembers double hander.
This month we have a talk by Tobias Schiebeck, of the Manchester
Visualization Centre, on the "make" utility. "make" is often a bit of a
mystery to those new (and notso new) to Unix/Linux. If you've downloaded
source code and need to build the program, odds on you used make to do.
But make is much more than that. Tobias's talk should throw some light on
this useful Unix power tool.
We also have Mark Conmy of School of Computing here at Leeds Uni.,
talkiing about network boot using the Intel PXE stuff - it's called
alsorts of things, Microsoft use different acronyms for it (of course),
and it seems to make a meal of the job, but it's out there and needs
know about.
I didn't really manage to get any speakers on more introductory topics.
I've got no one for November, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, volunteer for a
talk, and contact me ASAP please.
See you all on Monday
cheers
Jim
