                  Sheffield Linux Users Group (ShefLUG)

         Meetings are free and open to anyone to attend.

      Theatre,  Sheffield Hallam University, City Campus, Howard

 Our next meeting will take place on the afternoon of the 27th of 
November at the Pennine Lecture Theatre,  Sheffield Hallam 
University,  Sheffield.  There is seating for about 200 people.  
Coffee and tea is served at 13.30 and the presentation begins at 
14.00.  Finish at about 16.00 or whenever everyone stops asking 
questions.

Robin Rowe - Founding partner, enterprise manager and chief 
technologist for MovieEditor.com Robin Rowe who is a well known 
motion picture technologist will give a talk about GNU/Linux as the 
dominant operating system in feature film animation and special 
effects.  Based in Beverly Hills Robin is a partner in the company 
MovieEditor and leads an industry association called the Linux Movies 
Group.    Just about every blockbuster motion picture you can see in 
theatres today was produced with GNU/Linux through Titanic, Shrek, 
Star Wars Episode 2 and The Last Samurai to many other popular films.  
He will be describing the movie making too Gabrielle Pantera - 
Founding partner, casting director and business manager for 
MovieEditor.com ls of the trade, including proprietary commercial 
products, internal programs based on code that is kept as closely 
held trade secrets and popular open source projects.  One of the open 
source programs Robin will cover is CinePaint- 
http://www.cinepaint.org - which is a project that he leads.   
Gabrielle Pantera will be here with him to help out and to discuss 
other points that people may wish to raise or have answered.  You can

Entrance will be through an online booking form.   Cost of the 
presentation for participating individuals is nothing.  We would just 
like to know who is coming along so that we don't over book the room.
