Hi All,

Thanks to Paul Abbot for his humorous and interesting talk on Bolton
Technology Innovation Centre. Wish the project well. I noticed a few
people nodding off during my talk! So I won't comment further.

Ok this week we have Aaron Crane given the talk "The 糞▯ Fonts Don't
Work: A Practical Guide to Unicode on Unix" (and screwed the fonts up in
title!). This is the talk Aaron gave at Linux2004 conference this summer.
My plea for speakers before last months meeting didn't get anything extra
for this month, so you all get another chance to cathc up on some
wellearned sleep while I demo my new ARM Single Board Computer and show
how easy this embedded stuff is with Linux and a board company with a
clue.

Hope to see lots of you on Monday

all the best
Jim

Getting Unix programs to deal with fonts, languages, and character sets
in the way you want can seem unnecessarily complicated. This talk
describes how to configure common Unix applications like Bash, Xterm,
Vim, Emacs, and Mutt to handle text correctly in all its many and
                               varied forms.
