In September we will run an update of the well known Evil on the
Internet given by Richard Clayton. More about Richard Clayton
here….

The date for the meeting is the 9th of September 2010 at 19:00 hours
for 19:30 hours. This will take place at the University of Sheffield,
Richard Kroto Innovation Centre, Broad Lane, Sheffield S3 7HQ. Clayton
who is a computing expert based at the University of Cambridge will
provide live examples of ‘evil’ websites explaining how they work and
what is currently known about the criminals who operate them. The talk
will cover Phishing sites which collect banking credentials; mule
recruitment websites enticing people into money laundering; fake
escrow sites defrauding the winners of online auctions; fake banks
which hold cash for fake African dictators; Ponzi scheme websites
where almost (but not quite) everyone knows that they’re a scam. This
event is arranged in conjunction with….
