There's been interest in the past on single board computers (SBCs).
Usually they are quite expensive, but the mini ITX boards are fairly
affordable and several of us have used them in projects.
While these are not very low electrical power, they do provide a
SBC that could provide a fairly powerful server and firewall router
functions.

There's a new model out that helps this - it has 2 ethernet interfaces
(and some extra serial, just in case you wanted to run a modem pool :-)
and looks like a reasonably affordable MoBo for routers, firewalls etc.

VIA EPIA CL6000 and CL10000 mainboards - Dual LAN boards, based on the
CLE266 chipset.
