i know the feature you are talking about
and allthought linux does have the starrt a new session and log on as a
2nd user etc  usefull for when your sat at the pc to start the "new
session" but what if your afk?

under windows when the screensaver is activated and then anyone can
cancel the screensaver but then your presented the "welcome" logon
screen to either log back on to your account or logon to a new account

I don't think there is such a feature on X as of yet
