The most clever naming scheme I've ever read about was to do with the
periodic table...

192.168.0.1 = hydrogen.domain
192.168.0.2 = helium.domain
192.168.0.3 = lithium.domain
etc.

At a place I worked at the hostnames were chosen from a book of local
flora - when I started there I was given the book's index and a pin -
where it landed was my hostname (unless someone beat me to it).
