Yes, next time this theoretical person happened to check, which is rather
different in general to when the response is, which could be an answer to an
important question or an important question that needs answering.  The point
is that Reply-to-All replies to all, Reply replies to author, therefore for
discussions that are public, Reply-to-All is the apropriate button to press.
Most MTAs do not have a Reply-to-List button, so there's no neat way of
having it "just right".

Sorry, but that argument holds no water with me - If you choose to download
your email via GPRS then you're paying for people to talk to you.  If you
don't want people to talk to you then don't participate in a thread, or
choose a seperate list email and don't check that via GPRS.  With email, it
is not sensible to try and decide who can talk to you - you either want to be
contactable or not.

Personally, I just wish people would stop moaning about it.  Because you've
been talking about it, I've had to make many more actions to reply just to
the list because you obviously have this preference.  Not everybody does.
There is no satisfactory answer.
