The Guardian has had around one or more open source relevant article per
day in the last week.

More discursive on effects on MS in particular, ie a para from the
middle:-
Firefox and Thunderbird are not a threat on their own to
Microsoft's desktop dominion. But dozens of free Windows
programs stand comparison with proprietary equivalents. Chief
among them is OpenOffice.org, the free office suite which was
recently proclaimed as "the best all-round office suite" and
"the king of the business tools" by PC Pro magazine. Version
2.0, due next year, promises to be even better.

BTW The PC Pro Ooo review was stunning - PC Pro has always (IMHO) been
very very MS based, and to see them putting Ooo ahead of MS Office is
like seeing the Bush government banning guns and instituting a hug-a-
tree campaign.

We live in interesting times.
