Hi,

Two questions in one. When doing an emerge update /emerge -a -u -D world
/I'm getting errors in a few of the compiles. The two that give me a
problem are gtk+ and imagemagick. I suspect it is because I boot into X,
and then do the emerge from the virtual console. So, the two questions:

1. Will gtk+ and imagemagick (and others) have trouble compiling if an X
server is running?
2. Which is the best way to leave the X server? I once used /init/ and
it messed up so many config files I'm loathe to do it again.
