The "usual" regular time stamp by syslog in the system logged is something 
like 10mins if I recall right. Every 7 secs is pretty quick.

Could be all sorts. I know Dave Roberts dissected his server setup to find 
out what was accessing his hard drive - care to offer advice Dave?
