well eather these so called profesional IT people are eather 
1 dumb 
2 have not actualy heard of linux before 
3 base there ideas on what they think would be the case 
or worse
4 that this is a ploy by microsoft to get people used to the idea 
that you still need a windows licence to run linux 

the only other thing reason that i think is the main one is to get 
linux users to slag them of over it like some of the other posts have done on 
there , to make the linux community look bad 

i would sujest writeing to the editors at zdnet and explaining that the actual 
main story should be removed as it is misleading and inaccurate , or at least 
add an ammendment to it so that people who dont know about linux can at least 
get a fair idea that the stroy is a plie of assumed info with no reserch
