I'm not that comfortable about intervening in a private dialogue, but I
think that the exchange between John and Mark provides two 'proofs' for
my assertion that mixed mode posting is a disaster:

  1. It _is_ objectively hard to follow a 'discussion' when people
  constantly switch modes.

  2. wylug-discuss is supposed to be a discussion-based mailing list,
  which doesn't work so well when people treat it as if it were
  person-to-person email.

  ... it may be mildly amusing, but it isn't much use as the discussion
  forum for a colective self-help group.
