I'm only picking on this one as it's the only one I've installed.

I don't know why it failed to upgrade firefox, it really should, as the
package is there in the repos.  I'd expect pirut to have sorted that out, or
at the worst a yum upgrade.

I also couldn't tell you why evolution didn't install.  It's listed as a
default package within the Graphical Internet group, which is by default
installed.  Did you just go with a default package selection?

For flash, I followed the instructions found by googling "Fedora 9 flash"
match what I've done and it worked fine.  It's not perfect with 64bit, but
it's alright.

I couldn't explain why you've had all these problems.

If you have a current intel based laptop then life can be easier with linux
than windows IMO.  Fedora on such a beast gives you accelerated graphics,
working sound, working wireless, working wired ethernet, suspend and hibernate
working.  I think the only thing that didn't work on my laptop was the SD card
slot.
