2008 sees the 60th anniversary of the world's first stored-program
digital
computer, built at Manchester in 1948.

As part of the celebrations, the University of Manchester is running a
"Program the Baby" competition: entrants will write an "interesting"
program in the original machine code of the 1948 machine, using a Java
simulator.

Prizes: Notebook PC for the winner, vouchers for the runner-up.

Deadline: 1 May 2008.
