I suppose it's a kind of consistency, i.e. it fits the general pattern
of completely opaque gnome naming and documentation.

I'm only surprised that they've bothered to retain words at all, when
surely it would be so much more usable if everything was entirely
graphical? Haven't alphabets been deprecated yet?
