The foundation is a non-profit so can't afford to sink large amounts of
capital into stock, so the first production run was always likely to
sell out. They also seem to have gotten a rather large amount of
publicity from the BBC which can't have been completely expected - after
all at the moment it's just a cheap dev board with a vapourware software
stack.
