I don't know for the specific of Slackware, but a number of distros
run pm-utils for their desktop environment sleep function.  If
Slackware does too then coding a suitable script for
/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/ will fix it.  They're a bit like Sys V
/etc/init.d scripts but for power management events.
