I was a happy Linux user for more than 10 years, but in the end I have
almost abandoned it, because specialist software such as my embroidery
digitising software is still often dongle-controlled. At one point I
contacted Aladin who seem to be the manufacturers of these dongles.
They thought that it was not impossible to get them to work but all my
efforts, and suggestions from various people, came to nothing.

Dual booting managed for me, for a time. Virtualbox couldn't be made to
work with the dongle. Sadly, this was a dead end for me and I now spend
most of my time in Windows. Linux is not entirely out of the window
though - my technophobe husband happily manages his meagre needs on
Mageia - albeit with many, many, shouts of "How do I ....?" He never
learns, but Mageia chugs on for him.
