Hi John,

Many thanks for this, a very useful document. Wish I'd had it at the
time I was setting all this up a few months ago. The XP machine has
already succesfully joined to the Samba domain and roaming profiles are
working OK on it, albeit with a bit of a workaround to a problem with
mapping the home directory with roaming profiles enabled. The XP
machine has been working fine for a good while, just since upgrading
Samba now we can't accessed the shared printer on it.

Some of the stuff about the difference between Local and Domain users
and groups might offer some clues.

I'm confused about where the problem lies. The fact that it is occuring
after upgrading Samba suggests to me a problem with Samba. However, a
quick browse of comp.protocols.smb reveals a plethora of problems with
Samba and XP, so I suspect XP is the problem. Someone on
comp.protocols.smb suggested this morning that this user has fiddled
with a setting on their XP machine.

Out of interest, what problems did you have?
