[Wylug-help] MySQL can't get stat

I've looked at various possibilities, but I'm stuck on this problem:

> use database
> load data infile '/path/file' into table 'table1';
"ERROR 13: can't get stat of '/path/file' (Errcode: 13)"

/path/file exists and is RW for owner, group and everyone.
table1 exists in database
the user running mysql session is root (!), who has file_priv set to Y in the
user table of the mysql database.

Any ideas?
