If you're using OpenOffice, then as root you do a system install to something
like /usr/local/, and then for each user you simply install from that
directory, choosing the workstation option (can't remember exactly), which
only install a few MB per user.

As for sharing documents etc., any good unix/Linux tutorial on file
permissions will show you how to get up a 'group folder' directory.
