The only thing I'd be wary of is the package names. Where did you get the
tftpd package from. I'm pretty sure the redhat 9 package should be
tftp-server.
/bin/id isn't present on a redhat 9 system, it's /usr/bin/id which also makes
me think you're headed for a world of pain.
I reckon you want to install:
ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/9/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/tftp-server-0.32-4.i386.rpm
