Sorry if this is OT, but I was wondering what are wyluggers views on
membership of professional bodies.
Shortly after graduating I joined the IEEE as an associate member, but I
have never had a job, or interview, where this sort of thing was required,
or even desired.
Consequently my membership soon lapsed.

I notice that very few of my work colleagues advertise membership of
professional bodies, although just about all have some form of Hons Degree.

So, does anyone believe that membership to something like the British
Computer Society would enhance their career prospects?
Does anyone have any anecdotes to share?

Or, is the trend towards getting MCSE, or even RHCE.

If this is deemed OT, then I would welcome any views by email.

Kind regards

Nick Thomas
