That still comes up with the flashing monitor lights and no response.
Booting Mandrake in non-fb mode starts OK, but that's text only - no
possibility of X.  I haven't had time to try the other card yet, and
it's not looking good for tomorrow, but over the weekend I'll get to
it.  Thanks for the suggestion
