Personally I just invent one and misuse it for testing.

Let us create www.fickle-fisherman.com.  Slap it into you /etc/hosts file on
the client machine, setup the virtual server end and you're away.  I assume
there's some equivalent trick in windows to add hosts.

It never has to exist anywhere in DNS.
