[Wylug-help] Presentations in Scribus, Howto?

Hi,

I've just written a new course and, just out of curiousity, I thought I
might try to produce some PDF presentation slides for it in scribus.

I found that ubuntu comes with a scribus-template package and that I
could create a new scribus document using the scPresentation template
that came with it.

scPresentation is hideously ugly, but I figured that if I could create
slides with it, I could always edit the styles later to get the
necessary eye-candy.

Not so fast!

When I add a new page/slide, the only template available for it is the
'normal' template ... which produces a completely blank page of the same
size and dimensions as the initial slides.

I was expecting:

  * That the default new slide/page template would be 'scPresentation'
  * That this default slide/page would have place holder text boxes and
    lists already on it.

Can anyone help me decide whether or not to waste any time on
investigating further, by answering these questions?

  1. Are the ubuntu scribus and scribus-template packages broken in some
way, e.g. template file locations, symlinks etc?

  2. Is scPresentation broken in some way, .g. it was just a 'proof of
concept', rather than a working template?

  3. Do you know of any decent documentation out there for making
  slides with scribus?

Dave
