I fed 'faio_wait_on_buffer for reader timed out' and found others reporting 
the same.  Someone said:

On the other hand, just splitting this
up into two commands:

cdrecord -vv dev=1,0 blank=all
cdrecord -vv dev=1,0 /path/to/some.iso

works every time.  Others agreed that they could never get it working all in 
one line.  I'll try splitting it, and report back.
